I am so jealous you went to New Orleans. Have you had Dixie beer? It's like the Coors Light of Louisia beers. :) They also have a "blackened voodoo" and "crimson voodoo". My favorite beers are ESB, so I do like Red Hook. Have you had any of the Rogue ales from Portland?

Re: Abita Beer

don't think I have. will have to try it out.

Re: Abita Beer

have you tried chimay grande reserve? it's available at trader's joe

Re: Abita Beer

my favs....fat tire, newcastle, stella, chimay

Re: Abita Beer

i like the idea of a visit to the anchor brewery...

Re: Abita Beer

Californian beer? My favorites: Boont Amber Ale (Anderson Valley Brewing Co.), Red Tail Ale (Mendocino Brewing Co.), Anchor Steam (Anchor Brewing), Downtown Brown (Lost Coast Brewery), Lagunitas IPA, and yes, I like the Sierra Nevada very much as well too. I just discovered the Bear Republic beers and ales, but I haven't tried all of them yet.

Anybody up for a visit of the Anchor Brewery sometime?
